New Zealand Health Research Strategy 2017-2027

June 24, 2017

Summary

The New Zealand Health Research Strategy 2017-2027 sets a vision that, by 2027, New Zealand will have a world-leading health research and innovation system.

There are four guiding principles for the system: research excellence; transparency; partnership with Māori and collaboration for impact.

The strategy contains a set of initial actions. An important action is for the HRC to run a priority-setting process for investing in health research that will have the most impact for New Zealanders. It encourages the science, academic and health sectors to collaborate and work with communities and people.

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE), the Ministry of Health and the Health Research Council will implement the strategy and report back to Ministers every six months. An expert advisory group will guide implementation.
