Melanoma Institute of Australia release new clinical tools to identify melanoma risk

September 14, 2020

The Melanoma Institute of Australia have released three new online calculators:

  1. First primary melanoma risk calculator: predict a patient's risk of developing their first primary melanoma
  2. Subsequent primary melanoma risk calculator: predicts the risk of a patient developing a subsequent primary melanoma where they have already had one or more primary melanomas
  3. Sentinel node metastasis risk calculator: predicts the risk that a patient's primary melanoma has spread to nearby lymph nodes

These calculators are designed to help inform clinician/patient discussions about prevention and early detection of melanoma and ensure tailored skin surveillance programmes are implemented according to specific patient risk.
