Richard McKenzie, an emeritus scientist with the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA) at Lauder and MelNet member has recently released a new book titled "Saving Our Skins: Atmospheric Reflections of a Lauder Stargazer."
It provides an insider's account of how Richard and his colleagues research and involvement in scientific and environmental assessments of ozone depletion helped ensure the success of the Montreal Protocol on Protection of the Ozone Layer. It discusses ozone depletion and its affect on ultra-violet radiation that causes skin cancer, and climate change which poses an existential threat to humanity.
