Cancer Society's National Grant Round 2024 now open - including funding for melanoma research

November 9, 2023

The Cancer Society of New Zealand (Te Kāhui Matepukupuku o Aotearoa) is excited to announce that the 2024 National Grant Round is now open.

National Research Grant Round 2024

The aim of the National Grant Round is to fund high-quality research across the cancer continuum (including prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and supportive care). In 2024, they are offering Post-Doctoral Fellowships and PhD Scholarships.

Please note that specific funding is available for Melanoma research, and the Cancer Society encourage applications in this research area.

Programme Grant

The Cancer Society will also be offering their 5 year Programme Grant, which is currently held by the University of Otago.

The 2025 - 2030 grant will aim to cover the research areas of Cancer Prevention, Early Detection, and Supportive Care.

The Research Areas will be confirmed following an expressions of interest (EOI) process. EOIs are not required to submit a full application, but the EOIs will be used to inform the final application criteria. The Cancer Society strongly encourage anyone thinking of applying for the Programme Grant to submit an EOI.

Information on the EOI process can be found in the guidelines in the grant portal linked below.

Grant Portal

The Cancer Society has a brand new grant portal, which can be found here:  https://cancersociety.app.tahua.io/

You will find all information on the grants and be able to apply for these through the portal.

Key dates

Expressions of interest for the Programme Grant close 15 December 2023.

Expressions of interest for the Post-Doctoral Fellowship close 7 February 2024.
