SunSmart schools: a New Zealand skin cancer primary prevention intervention blueprint for primary school settings

This recent study conducted by the University of Otago Cancer Society Social and Behavioural Research Unit provides evidence to suggest that the delivery of a comprehensive sun protection programme in a primary school setting is positively associated with school sun protection policies and practices, which can reduce students’ exposure to excessive UVR and, ultimately, their risk of skin cancer.

Sun protection of hats limited by diffuse UVR

Hats’ sun protection effectiveness varied highly with environmental conditions and were mainly limited by the high contribution of diffuse UVR, irrespective of hat style, according to this recent study.
