Support and counselling

 

Services offered by Melanoma New Zealand
  • Nurse Educator consultation – Free and confidential one-on-one online or phone consultations with a melanoma nurse educator for anyone concerned about melanoma or seeking information and support. 

  • Counselling services – Up to four free online or phone counselling sessions for individuals, family/whānau, and carers affected by melanoma.  

  • Support groups – Two online support groups facilitated by an experienced counsellor: one for melanoma patients and one for family/whānau.

Services offered by the Cancer Society of New Zealand
  • Cancer Helpline and one-on-one support – Free and confidential phone or email advice from experienced cancer nurses for anyone diagnosed with cancer or their family/whānau.

  • Psychology and counselling – Free one-on-one or group psychology and counselling sessions for people diagnosed with cancer and their family/whānau.

  • Transport and accommodationHelp with travel to cancer treatment appointments for those who do not have their own transport, and with accommodation near hospitals for those who need to travel to main centres for care.

  • Support groups and peer connection – In-person or online support groups to connect with others facing similar experiences.
